Moving Along:

Just a quick note: Moving day is within days, my new life and new residence are in view. My house is being over run by boxes. Everyday I have access to less and less of my stuff. I’m living in a suitcase as of now. Tonight and tomorrow is the last of the packing and cleaning. Then the dreaded move on Saturday. (Raspberry sound with my lips)

“Why do I have so much stuff?” I hear it over and over from tenant who move in or out of our properties. And here "I" am saying it.

Why do I feel I need all this? Organizing and throwing away is going to be the priority once the moving is done.

The only regret is that it might take time away from my reading or writing. That I cannot allow. Slowly, I will toss and pitch unsavory items that have no use as I begin to pull together my new residence.

Notice:
Due to my move and being the first of the month, since I work in property management, my blog postings and storyline "Three Ordinary Lives" will have to take a back seat for a few days. Back on track after that, I can’t wait.

Update on Writing:
Or reading I should say. I was able to purchase a few books. I am so excited!!! Writer’s Digest has books out designed to help the writer. I read about them when I get my email newsletter. Well guess what! I found a few of them at the book store. I was able to buy two books.

1. Characters and Viewpoint by Orson Scott Card.

2. Conflict, Action and Suspense by William Noble.

Book 1: Characters, what I learned about how to find characters is to look around you, be aware of the characters around you. Take from them but do not use them. The book will explain more on this.

When developing a story, the writer needs to dig deeper than just the clichés of life. Really take time to think about what could possibly happen, but then dig deeper, then dig more, and more. The characters and the story have to be original. The reason why they do something has to be original and what they do about it also has to be original. This book explains it easily and how each point can make the best character, story, and how to write it.

Viewpoint is something that I am in desperate need to understand, and that will come later in the book. Right now I’m only at part 1. Next part is Constructing Characters. That should be interesting.

I love learning. This is better than an 8 Week Creative Writing Class! Ha Ha. For those of you who are new.  I had taken a 8 week creative writing course and was accused of using the class as a therapy session.  Which is untrue and ridiculous.

Back to the books:
Conflict, Action and Suspense. I have learned some great techniques to creating conflict and the difference between passive and active voice. This is great!

I’m moving into chapter 3: Openings right now. This explains the correct way to hook the reader within the first few pages. It is really fascinating. There are a lot of way to hook the reader and what the reader expects from the writer and the story.

I’m thrilled about these books and grateful I found them.    I am learning so much, and plan on working hard to put my new found techniques into my writing. Let me know if you like the improvements.

Update on Braveheart:
Braveheart moves too quickly for me to get a picture of him lately. He is fast, running, jumping, attacking and then hiding from everyone in the house. His attention span is small compared to the others but he is loved an accepted by all.  I love to torture him with kisses.

Oh forgot to tell you. Since I’m moving into a cheaper place I can afford to keep him. He is mine.
(Mine! Mine! Mine!) No other capable arms can take him but me.

“How’s that for ya? Yeah I knew it would happen anyway. You could see right through me. You knew my soft heart wouldn’t be able to let him go, didn’t you?” (Sign.)

Once life cools down for a minute the posting will come again, and with my new found techniques and better writing skills the blog will be better than ever.   Take care. Until next time.

I Have Good News and Bad: Which Do You Want First?

Hello everyone. Well I guess the bad news first, it will be easier to get it over with. The bird that was in my basement over the last few days, I found it yesterday morning. It was dead and dusty lying on the ground near my dryer. I was very sad. At lease the cats didn’t eat it, I could be glad for that. I was hoping the bird would fly into my apartment and get caught behind the curtain like the last bird and then I can capture it and bring it outside to freedom.

I picked it up in a towel and brought it outside. I did a small funeral and placed it in the trash. Not a fitting end to a beautiful animal. It deserved better.

I just wish I knew how the bird found its way to the basement in the first place. Then I could prevent another bird from the same end as this one. After I move it won’t be my problem, but I can’t help but worry about future birds getting stuck.

Such is the life of an animal. Survival of the fittest.

Update on Braveheart the Warrior.
My little kitty is doing fine and getting on everyone nerves. Well except mine and Little One my one eyed kitty. He seems to be a big brother and babysitter for me while I’m gone.

This is Little One.  As you can see he only has one eye.
His left eyes was severely infected when I first rescued him.
Sorry this is not the best picture of him.

Braveheart and Little One are playing together.
Little one is babysitting him.  Isn't this cute.
Braveheart is so tiny compared.

Braveheart and Little One seem to play together well and Little One is always trying to groom him. Braveheart being the little kitty he is, is always trying to tackle Little one and mock fighting. Braveheart is tying to hone his skills. Little one just bats him and they play around biting each other. It is very cute to see.

The others Romeo and Juliet are coming around. Romeo and Braveheart run around the house and chase each other. It is very good for both of them. I spied Juliet licking Braveheart at least twice while he was asleep, which is an improvement since she usually just hisses at him.

This is Juliet.  She is the little mommy to me
grooming me, but I wonder why she
won't be a mommy to Braveheart.

I think part of it is Braveheart want to wrestle all the time.  She doesn't like that.  Little One is always bugging her and she hisses at him too.  Little One gets bored so I am glad to have Braveheart.  Those two can have at it.

Updates On My Writing:
It is very difficult for me to write right now, because I am getting ready for the move. However I am still using my imagination to continue the story. I am documenting my thought and keeping track in my binder. It could get lost in the move, so I keep it close. I’d hate to be looking everywhere after I move when I need it right then. (Know what I’m talking about?). I say in my Gary Coleman voice.

I am working on some intrigue storyline involving two smaller characters who will be in the forefront soon for my blog storyline. “Three Ordinary Lives.” Doing the blog and writing my manuscript has taught me a lot. I’m still learning though so if you see something I should know, like grammar, typos, or anything else please let me know. I appreciate it.

Share, laugh, cry, grow and bond with others.  Until next time.

Reading Other Peoples Blogs.

There are a number of blog that I keep track of.  Some of them are agents, editors and established favorite authors.  People of the business that I love.   Some of them are authors that have cool stories with their blogs.

I read one blog today that I have to talk about.  The blog title is "Should Unpublished writers Blog?
This is a good question.  One that I struggled with for some time before I decided I had some things to say and needed a forum to say them with.

This blogger feels that unpublished writers who wish to blog should, but if the writer doesn't feel like they have anything to say, than maybe they shouldn't.  There is a lot more to it so, I have put a link for you to read and understand his point of view.  However its the comments that I found more interesting.  Check it out.  http://kidlit.com/2010/07/21/should-unpublished-writers-blog/

By the admittance of the blogger, he writes about the business of writing and keeps his private life out of it, except this one time when his cat got sick.  Years later people who meet him and have read his blog still ask about the cat.  Here's an interesting point.  While he feels it's a point of irritation.  His readers use it to connect with him on a personal level.  It makes him more human than just a business persona.

Why I started to blog:
I wanted to blog because I read that agents are looking for writers who have a readership going and can use that forum to sell their books.  I thought about this for some time.  Since I don't have a book yet why do it.  What do I write about?  Do I have enough to blog about?  Will people even care that I have a blog or what I think and feel?

What I have learned is that while at first I worried if I had enough to talk about, I actually have more than I put on the blog to talk about, but don't have the time.  Bloggers who state that blogging is a time sucker, they are correct.  I could write about a lot, such as what happened on Bachlorette with Ali and Frank, or what is happening with Lindsey Lohan, or the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.  I just figure there is enough about all that in the news.

I am blogging about my life and women's issues.  Even though I haven't had much response I know I have readers.  They just haven't had a desire to comment yet.  I am unsure as to why, but my feeling is while I try to get a response from my readers, I will learn a great deal about writing.  While I go about my business of life, I find myself thinking of ways to write events that happen.  Not just for the blog but for my story and manuscript.  Doing this helps me become a better storyteller.

Sometimes when I read other blogs I get an insight as to their thinking and am in awe.  A lot of the things that they write about is inspiring.  It may be in a small way but inspiring none the less.  When it's a small thing that makes a difference in happiness or a way of life how can one fault that.  Sometime it the combination of all the small things in someones life that make the bigger positive changes that is needed.  If we can read it over a period of time through that blog we, the reader, will have gained a better perspective of that person and how it has changed them.  We might even change ourselves because of it.

I don't want to start my blog after my manuscript is published, because then all I'd want to talk about is the book, touring, writing, and selling my book.  I get bored with authors who write just about that stuff.  I want to get to know the author.  What they feel about things, how they go about their lives.  Even though I love their books and characters, lets face it, real people are not like exciting characters in a book.

In blogging now, I will have learned a great deal on many things.  I will have established myself and have readers who think of me as a person.  Who know my writing and my voice.  Who trust that I will deliver a good story.  They will have gone through my struggles and triumphs.  Read about my doubts and fears.  Get updates on my progress and new storyline.  In essence become apart of my life.

The other thing that I realized is, I yearn to write.  Part of putting down my thoughts in this forum is to get them out of my head and relieve some of my stress.  When readers who comment and connect with me, than I know that I am not alone.  That makes all the difference in the world as to why I blog.

What do you think?  Should you blog just for the sake of blogging or is there more to it than meets the eye.  Share, laugh, cry, grow and bond with others.  Until next time.

Moving Day is Approaching

Packing has it up’s and down’s. While I'm putting stuff in boxes, I'm thinking, do I really need it?  A lot is getting tossed, on the up side less to pack and move.

Yesterday I had a surprise when I came home. One of the things I love the most about my cats is to have them greet me at the door.  Moments later walking towards their food bowls wondering why I haven't fed them yet and where is the fresh water if you please.

"I'm hurrying, hold your horses." I tell them.  As I place my things on the kitchen counter.
They just look from me to their bowls then back at me.  (obvious)

This happens most day but when I came to the door and none of the cats were there to greet me I knew something was up. I looked everywhere for them. All I saw was little Braveheart.as he came running to me from the living room. (Of course I picked up the little handful and cuddled him to me. He purred sweetly.)

After looking everywhere I had a sneaky suspicion all the cats were in the basement, but why?

They were chasing a bird. It was in the basement flying around. Somehow it got caught down there, I don’t know how, but there he was hopping in the rafters, wings fluttering in panic.

The funny thing is when I first moved into the house another bird did the same thing. It was trapped in the basement and the cats were going crazy trying to capture it. I even wrote a short story about the adventure of finally removing it from the grips of all three cats. Now again there a bird, poor thing, in the basement going wild trying to escape. I hear it squawking and the frantic movement of the three predators.

How the other bird escaped, he flew into the living area and got trapped behind a curtain trying to get out of a window. I grabbed it, softly encasing it into my hand, then took it outside and released him. I can only hope to do the same for this wretched thing. I hope I don’t find it dead or half eaten. (I cringe at the idea)

Last day for medication for Braveheart.
Yep. Last day for him and me, he is all healthy now and running around happy.

I saw the cutest thing this morning. One of my other cats, Little one is his name, my one eyed kitty and friend to little Braveheart. They both had their heads in the same food bowl eating. This is something special because Little one is the house scarf. Meaning he eats most of the food by pushing the other aside. Now he is sharing. Can you believe it? And at one point Braveheart actually pushed Little One out of the way.
(I just had to shake my head)

Braveheart the Warrior: Found a new playmate.

If you have been keeping up on Braveheart you know that he, a sick rescued kitten that I nursed back to health, is now running around my house and making new friends.

I was very surprised after a little bit. I guess introductions are in order. I have three other cats that I rescued before and have become part of my family.

Romeo- ginger tiger striped domestic
Juliet- beige long hair domestic
Little one- ginger and while medium hair domestic.

When I first took on little one he was only 4 weeks old and had a severe eye infection that  cost him his eye. The vet said if I had waited one more week the eye would have fell out. I saved the eye, not to be able to see but from falling out. In the end the eye had to be removed because he could get cancer in later years. So Little one is my one eyed kitty. He cost me over $500 and he is not going anywhere. (Turns out he ended up being the largest out of all my cats. So much for the name little one huh.)

Well it’s little one that is the big friend to Braveheart the Warrior. When I first opened the bathroom door to let Braveheart out he jumped and ran around like a banshee darting everywhere. All the cats were following his every move. It was little one who didn’t hiss at braveheart and who began to groom him. I knew right away that those two would be friends.

Over the weekend Braveheart has been playing with all of them. I want to show you what I mean.

That is Braveheart the Warrior in the middle of a toy
and the cat shown is my one eyed kitty Little One.
They are fast freinds now.

This is Braveheart sleeping later on after he tuckered himself out.
Isn't he cute or what.  Oh the life of a kitty.

I couldn't get the pictures of the other cats yet.  I will post those soon.

I did a lot of packing this last weekend.  During all of it Braveheart was of course right by my body getting in the way.  I decide I was not going to pack all the sh*t I have and started to go through some of it.  Braveheart and the others were rummaging in it paying with the papers and stuff.  It was cute but anoying.

I may be the top alpha but I still allow them to be cats.  I wouldn't change the ways of cats in all the world.  I love their free spirits and agility.  The way they can give love.

I still have a lot to do.  Hopefully I won't bore you with that too much but with more of my cats and their antics.

There isn't much going on other than moving and promoting my new story line "Three Ordinary Lives"  Check it out and tell your friends.  Share, laugh, cry, grow and bond with others.  Until next time.

Bravehart the Warrior: Gets to walk around.

As some of you may know or if you are new to the blog.  I rescued a little kitten named Braveheart the Warrior.  I've had him for a little over a week, and he is recovering fast.

This is what he lloked like when he firs arrived.
He looks lost and sad.

This is what he looks like now.
What a difference.

As you can see his is full of live, heathy, his eyes are better, he is no longer sick, and he is extremely playful.
Being the playful kitty that he is he needs more room so.   I let him walk around in the living room last night. I thought I would give him a chance to explore his surrounds more and get to know the other cats and I put them in my office while he walked around.

I allowed little Braveheart out of the bathroom this morning.  he needs more room and a chance to explore some more.

He was so funny. He sauntered toward the others and they eyed him with disdain. Of course he ignored them and acted like he owned their space. First thing he approached was the food bowl. That didn’t go well with the cats; it’s amazing how much venom cats can have toward a newcomer.

After him moseying around and done with smelling things he really got his second wind. Now he wanted to play.   He cautiously walked up to my female cat, Juliet and smelled her tail. Juliet was tense, she sat quietly and waited to see what this little kitten was gonna do.

Braveheart did the usual thing that small kitten do. He arched his back and fanned out his tail, he reared up on all fours in preparation of a pounce, in mock fun. What does Juliet do? She jumps up with agile speed, far superior to Braveheart being as young as he is, and she hissed at him.

Braveheart stopped abruptly, getting her hiss of hatred, or jealously whichever way you want to look at it, and he took off in the other direction.

Of course I grabbed him and cuddled him, and spoke loving words to him, Then I spoke gentle words to Juliet, letting her know I love all of them and not to be upset.

I only allowed Braveheart ten minutes with those vultures. I know I’m being harsh with the others, but that is the nature of their game. I just play it better.  You see, I am the alpha in the pack. What I say goes and they know it. They will come around of course, but by then Little Braveheart will have a new home hopefully.

Well that's all I have on little Braveheart for today.  If you wish to discuss anything or want to contribute please email me at rhondamarsh1 at gmail dot com.  Share, laugh, cry, grow and bond with other women.  Until  next time.

Braveheart the Warrior: Updates

For any new readers to the blog, I rescued a little kitten; I named him Braveheart the Warrior. I have been documenting his progress.

My little Braveheart is running faster, jumping higher, biting harder. He is so healthy now and become a beauty.

He still sits upon his perch, which is his cat carrier, and sleeps. I have a towel on top. He makes the biggest mess in his litter box. Of course I need to get a bigger box for him. He races around the bathroom at top speeds and almost runs into the wall. He enjoys attacking my toes and biting my hands and arms.

When I open the door to see him he jumps off the perch and tries to run out the door. It is so cute, I catch, because he has to stop to stretch. His little back legs stretch and he takes a moment in which I grab him quickly and bring him back into the bathroom. (Part of the reason he stays in the bathroom is because his was quick sick when he first came to me. I kept him away from the others. It’s only been a little over a week.)

Did you know he has one green eye and one blue? The best thing about him is when he sits in my lap and cuddles. I bring him out of the bathroom and he sits with me and we watch TV together. Well he bits and plays with me while I try to watch TV. My other cats eye him suspiciously, although they haven’t hissed at him, which is a good sign.

I am very proud of his progress. After a while he gets tired and lays back and falls asleep in my arms. He still receives antibiotics and eye medicine twice a day.

Soon I will get some pictures of my other cats and post them. I might do some stories of their antics also.
Latest picture but he moves so fast I can barely get it.

Review of book.
As some of you might know. I am a big Sherilyn Kenyon fan. I read her first book in the Dark Hunter Series, “Fantasy Lover.” About a God who was cursed into a book and became a love slave to women who summon him. The book was really good. Sherilyn has a way of writing that is a page turner. Give her books a try and become a fan.

I’m reading the next book in the line, called “Night Pleasures’ Review in a few days.

Hope everyone has a great day. Share, laugh, cry, grow and bond with others. Until next time.

Violence Against Women

Just a short note:
Living free from violence is a human right. Yet millions of women and girls around the world encounter rape, domestic abuse, mutilation and other forms of gender-based violence. Too often no one is held accountable for these crimes. With your help, we can urge governments to hold perpetrators responsible and put an end to this cycle of violence against women. Overwhelmed and Pulling My Hair out

Do you ever have days where you feel like you are falling apart? I mean everything. I feel as if I am trailing behind and trying to catch up and am not doing a very good job of it.

Between the moving, the car braking down, taking care of Braveheart the Warrior- my kitten-, my blog, my new storyline, my manuscript novel, my friends, the house work, and much more, I am definitely dragging a loaded bag of something across my back.

I’m afraid I’m going to dump it somewhere along with my brains.

I’m at work right now and I feel like a zombie. I was supposed to write this morning. I got on the computer to get to work and I started wondering where I left off last time, it’s been so long since I last wrote, so I started reading.

After a while.

I feel like my manuscript is crap right now. I know something is wrong with it or missing I should say. I need time to think about the missing components but time is something I don’t have a lot of right now. I am overwhelmed, but at the same time I yearn to write. Once again I have to work to support myself. (Isn’t life grand?) *Exaggerating the last word.*

I know I’m happy I have a job; I just wish I could just kick it to the ground and walk away sometimes. But then again I don’t wish to be homeless again either.

When I was young I wanted to be an adult so badly but now I wish could be a kid again. (Boy I’m depressing aren’t I?)

Oh Gosh I’m just rambling. How does one get back on track? If you have a magic wand or a power I could concoct to drink to make it all better let me know. I’m so confused.

Here’s hoping your having a better time that I am.

Update on Braveheart my little Warrior:
He is running faster, jumping higher, biting harder and growing by leaps and bounds. Latest pictures of him.

This was taken yesterday at my desk in the office.
He moved just as my phone camera captured the picture.
You can see how big he is getting.
Of course he made a mess of my desk.
Here he fell asleep on my lap in my bathroom.
I'm wearing shorts and he laid across my lap and clsoed his eyes.  He is still sick and is separated from my other cats.Isn't he cute?

Well I would love to look at him all day but I have to get back to work.  Share, laugh, cry, learn, grow and bond with others. (I think I did that right.) Until next time.

Trust In Your Own Instincts: Part 1

I'm going to do something a little different today.  This blog originally was to be about womens issues.  I have strayed away from it for a little bit.  I put some of my issues into the blog hoping to connect with a few of you.   I am sure most woman out in the world just go along with their lives and not worry about their persoanl safety until its too late.   The best of us can get caught.  If we've never experienced it before we can become a target.  I have taken the liberty to explain a few things about predators here.

Let's get started.
Do you have a significant other that is trying to keep you isolated? Has it been long periods of time in between seeing, talking to or visiting your friends and family? Has your significant other done something to give you pause, to scare you, or to make an unfair reference as to how things should be? That is according to his thinking and not yours? In your gut do you feel you are being treated unjustly? You might be living with a predator.

Things to look for when dealing with a predator things that you might never have known before:

There are many things to look for. Here are just a few.
1. Isolation: .Taking you far way from friends and family. Not allowing you to have any friends and discouraging potential friends from coming over, by his actions and disapproval of them.

2. Twisting everything into being your fault.

3. Yelling, intimidating you.

4. Verbal name calling. Not respecting you or your opinion.

5. Not fighting fair. Bringing up past actions as a point to hurt you and deflect from the real issues of an argument. Especially when the other person made the mistake.

There are many more. When these things come up and you see a big red flag telling you that things aren’t right with this person and you should leave.  (This can be a women predator also.)

Trust in your instincts and leave. It is better to be alone than with someone who make you feel bad.

The best bet is to stay out of a situation that puts you at risk. But if the man that you thought turns out to be something other than what you want or need. (And only you can make that determination.) You can still help yourself. Become a survivor.

How to help yourself:
Always have money saved that the other doesn’t know about. Always have a backup plan. Take a womans Self defense class.

Cash your checks and keep a small portion. Put it away in a safe place. Bide your time until you get enough to leave with. (If he is taking all of your money.) all the better to leave., he is just keeping you for the money.

If the relationship is physical leave with nothing: Leave everything there. The belongings aren’t worth it. You are more important.

Leave at the first hit. Do not under and circumstances stay with anyone who verbally abuses you or physically hits you.

Utilize a phone book: The White Pages. In the first few pages there is resources information. Get a couple of numbers for local shelters and other centers that can help you incase of an emergency. Make a few calls and ask questions about what the programs are and how they help women.

Prepare a suitcase: Put the suitcase in the closet and tell him its old stuff that have value to you and you don’t want to throw them away. Keep some toiletries in it.

Put some money away: Every paycheck put some money away. $5.00 here $3.00 there in your own account. You would be surprise how quickly it adds up.

Make a plan and wait for an opening: No one can keep vigilant 24/7. Even the most vigilant will screw up sooner or later. Just be ready. The calmer and more accepting of the situation you are the more relaxed he will become and then when he is not looking you bolt.

Remember: Even if you are vigilant the unthinkable can still happen. Some habbits to incorporate into your daily life that make a difference.

I am sure you know this stuff. But remember it doesn’t just happen to other people. I have seen news segments where the neighbors say. It just doesn’t happen here, it happens to other people. WRONG.

1. Always keep your car door locked as soon as you get in. Even going to the corner store quickly or the gas station. Take your keys and lock the car.

2. As soon as you get into you home, lock the door and keep them locked. I have seen where a thief will come in while you are busy having an argument with your family member in the other room. If you have friends coming over, lock it.

3. Be aware of your surrounding. If you are walking away from the sun. The shadow on the sidewalk will alert you to someone following you.

A. If you are walking down street. Walk in the middle of the sidewalk. If you are close to a building someone can just grab you.

B. If someone grabs you, yell and scream as loud as you can. Tell people you don’t know this person.

C. If you are in a large parking lot. Have your keys ready before you get into the car. Look into the backseat and under the car to see if it is safe.

D. If there is a van near your car go back into the store and get a security guard to escort you back to your car or go to the passenger side of the car and get in. It will be uncomfortable but safer.

If you have something that you want to add or any situation that happened to you, please let us know about it.

Small Survey:
What would you like to discuss?
What would you like to know about?
Do you want to see something different in the blog?  If yes, please explain.
Do you wish me to continue with my life, small happenings and/or stories?

Any feedback you can give me will be very helpful.  Thank you.

Remember to stop spam all comments will be published the next day.

Critiquing Writers Group: Short story off Braveheart the Warrior.

Last night I attended my Critiquing Writers Group and had a blast. The group is full of talented writers. We take turns reading our work and others critique it with gentle suggestions.

We had two new people in the group. One of them read a short story called “Exotic”. The story was very original and very funny. All of us were cracking up and of course the woman who was reading had a thick Russian accent. She did a very good job reading and on the story. The group organizer also read a chapter of her manuscript. The chapter was almost to the end and it was well written. I was able to picture in my mind the story and found a lot of curious goings on that would make me want to continue reading her story. Another group member wrote a proposal he wanted to go over with us about an idea for a blog he’s thinking about. It was well written and a terrific idea and he received a lot of good feedback. Another group member had a 2 minute animation pilot on her computer to show us but time ran out so she will show us next time I hope.

I got to read a chapter of my manuscript. What I find interesting is that not much is said about my writing. I was asked a lot of questions as to the content of the story. Such as what are the characters powers? Are they human? Who is this person and what powers does this other person have, if any?

I am amazed at the interest that is generated by the questions. One person went as far as asking what my main characters power was. “I’m not telling you that.” I smirked. Everyone else just groaned. I heard muttering of Darn, and shoot.

After the meeting we all went out for a drink, green tea or cappuccino, at a local vegan café nearby. We talked about all kinds of subjects for an hour. It was great. We are all becoming fast friends and supporters of each other.

It’s a marvelous thing to have supports with the talents that this group has. I feel I picked the best place to continue my writing growth.

Continuing story of Braveheart the Warrior:
Braveheart the Warrior is a little baby kitten I rescued. I am chronicling his recovery and life until he can be placed into the capable hands of a new companion.

Braveheart sat perched on a ledge, looking at his domain. (An animal carrier) The surface had a softness that cushioned the hardness of his roost. (A towel.) After roaming for hours playing with a ball honing my skill to perfection, the rest was well needed. Suddenly he heard the door open and the girl walked in.

He jumped up and stretched, happy to see her with eager anticipation. “Now I get to have fun. She is always wrestling with me and I get to show my latest exploits.” She sat down and talked to me in a soothing voice.

“Good morning little warrior.” She crooned.

Walking to her I rubbed my body across her legs and let her know my pleasure. I purred in comfort at her presence. She picked me up and cuddled me. I wrapped my arms around her face and nuzzled her chin. She kissed me and then puts me down.

Feeling rambunctious I took a runing leap toward my toys and stopped short of almost hitting the wall. I turned around and saw another toy. I took a dive and landed on it and fell over it grabbing it to my stomach.  Biting it I tried to rip it to pieces. I kicked with my back leg and it fell away. I got up then noticed a bowl of food my girl placed for me.

Realizing I was hungry I ate to capacity, devouring the delicious food, not knowing when my next meal will be. I licked my chops then washed my paws, then washed my face in strokes that covered my ears and eyes. I did both sides.

Stretching again, I spied a hand tapping again. “I know this game.’ I mused. “I come at it and it looms quickly and scares me half to death. But this time I will acquire it.” He bounces toward it and the tapping stops and goes directly into a claw. Upon seeing the gigantic claw and the enormous site he falls back and decides another tactic might work.

He feigns not knowing about it, and runs around looking for anything to distract the hand into thinking he doesn’t want it. But he comes around for another try. This time his back is arched and he bounces with a feral look. “You’re mine.” He snarls.

The tapping hand once again looms in front of his eyes and almost past his head and grabs him, once again he backs off.

After numerous attemps to capture the hand he finally decides he wants to jump. He jumps into the lap of the girl looking for anything to sink his teeth into. Soft flesh maybe. He looks up to see a smiling face looking back.

“Oh that girl, I am so grateful for her assistance that I want to grab her.” He leaps up nails snagging into the garment of her clothes and hangs there, he’s stuck, and she is looking at him. “Oops.” He grumbles.

She giggles, “What are you doing little man?”

She picks him up and places him back on the floor. Off he goes grateful again for the help.

He spies a foot and tries unsuccessfully to bit a toe. The toes wiggled too furiously for him to grab. And so it continues until he exhausts himself out and plops himself in his box to sleep. He hears her leaving, so he picks himself up and goes back to his perch. There he stays until his strength is recovered.

Side note:
Bravehearts’ recovery is remarkable. He is full of life and running around at top speeds. His appetite is much better. He makes a mess with his litter box and I have to clean it up. (He is worth it, though I grumble at him.) He fusses when I place the drops into his eyes, but the antibiotic taste okay and he doesn’t seem to mind it.

I hope you enjoy the chronicling of Braveheart.  I really enjoy writing it.

This is the average life of an ordinary person.  As of now I am going to begin packing my stuff for the move and cleaning my apartment.  I'll start with the basement.  Those things I won't need anything soon.  I will probably throw out some more stuff.  Stuff I don't need.  (How did I get them in the first place?)
I am not looking forward to this move.  But what can I do? The hosue was sold and the new owner want to live in my apartment.

If you have a story to tell and/or an similar experience we would love to hear it.  Share, laugh, cry, grow and bond with others.  Take care.

Braveheart the Warrior: Or my kitten

Oh my little Braveheart the Warrior is bouncing around the bathroom at top speeds. Or as fast as his little legs will go. He seems so full of life now, happy and chasing images in his own mind.

One thing that happen that was really cool. I heard him purring for the first time last night.

While playing with him, I placed a towel on my lap. He was running around and when he stopped momentarily I asked him,  "What are you going to do?"  His face turned at my voice and he spied me, as if deciding what he wanted to do, then he walked right up to me still looking straight at me.

I smiled and patted my leg encouraging him to come up. He gauged the space between him and the mountain of my lap. Took a moment to gather his strength and took then the leap. He landed almost at the top but needed a small prompt on his backside from me.

I was so proud of him I scooped him up and cuddled him to my chin kissing his cheak. He then proceeded to bit my chin and wrap his arms around my face. I kissed him more, nuzzling the softness of his warm body. The moment was sweetness. Then I put him down and he was off, chasing after his toys or attacking his box.

This morning I put him in his carrier for the travel to the office. First thing he did was pee. (Oh darn.)  After cleaning it and replacing the newspaper on the bottom I showed him his litter box.  "This is where you pee not the carrier Silly," I chastise him.

Right now he is in the carrier under my desk sleeping quietly.  He is so good no one know he in the office.

Latest picture of Braveheart the Warrior.
He's playing on my desk at work.
I'm giving him a hard time and trying to snap the picture.

Braveheart attacking his box.
The stuffed animal is bigger than he is!
He wasn't like this a few days ago.  Now look at him.
So cute you want to squeeze him.

There are other things going on but I don't want to bore you with them.  Its regarding moving and dealing with all my latest troubles.  Right now I am grateful for the diversion of this little cutie.

Upcoming posts:
I started another Drizzt Do'Urdan book., Starless Night.  from RA Salvatore.  Will do the reveiw in a few days. Tonight I am going to my Critiquing Writers Group.  I am bringing something to read., but I have to leave poor Braveheart at home, so he will have the entire bathroom to run until he tuckers himself out.  I won't be able to stay afterwords with the gang and go out.  Braveheart needs his medicine.  Will post about the goup in a few days.

Sharing my joy of Braveheart and our adventures of him has been my pleasure.  If you have a similiar story or would like to tell us about a pet of yours join in the discussion.  Share, laugh, cry, grow and bond with others.  Remember to stop spam all comments will be published the next day.    Until next time.

Little Worrior: Braveheart

A few days ago I acquired a little boy kitten. This little thing was sick and had puss in its eyes. Yesterday I was able to take him to a vet for much needed medicine. This morning the changes are significant. I call him Braveheart because he is a little warrior. When he first arrived he slept most of the time, battling with his inadequate eyesight and persistent sneezing. The sneezing has slowed down and his eyes don’t hurt anymore. I saw him change almost immediately as soon as the drops were placed in the eyes. It was as if he understood the need and was grateful. (By the way  his weight.  1 pound.  What a big boy.)

He also received a bath, which he fought as well as his spirit would allow with his small strength. He wasn’t happy but resigned into it, his paws in a vice like grip around my hand. And like his namesake he was brave. After I wrapped him up in a towel and dried him off he then got real rambunctious. I recognized the signs. I placed him in my lap on a towel where he proceeded to attack my hand as I read my book, trying to bit me and let me know he wasn’t going to take a bath any more. After playing for a moment he grew bored and crawled off my lap to explore his surrounds.

He eyed a box, a box I placed him in when first I protected him, propped by the wall and saw an edge that looked inviting. Getting a start he dove into the box edge claws out and wrapped his paws around, grabbing as much of the edge as he could, while biting with fervor. He was doing his best to hone those fabulous features that gives cats their reputation.

After attacking the box edge he fell to the floor and decided he had enough, he looked around and saw a ball with a cross like top that allow the toy to wobble. He gave it a bat and then attacked it, the movements sparking a frenzy imagining of a future of mice catching, batting it this way and that. Oh, wait he hear tapping, looking away he see a hand tapping the floor. “Well now here’s a challenge, I can get that.” He thinks. He arches his back and bounces towards the hand sideways, confidence that he can get it, with his ferocious look. It moves around him continuously tapping. He stops short, sees the way its going and takes up pursuits. The hand lunges forward and attacks him. He flops down embracing the hand with all his strength biting furiously.

Suddenly the hand is gone and he hears tapping again. “Where did it go? It’s behind the large leg.” He trots around the leg and the hand lunges again. Down he goes and he bites into the soft flesh.
(Ouch! I squeal. * Wink* even though he doesn't hurt me I just don't want him used to biting hands.)

The hand is gone in mere moments. Upon getting up he spies the food dish.  His attention diverted.  “Hmm I think I’ll take a bit. “ The hands is there again tickling him, and he whips around and follows it trying to overtake it. The challenge is exciting and unpredictable. “I will have to work hard to defeat this foe.” He says.

The hand picks him up and places him in front of his dish. “Food, oh yeah, I’m hungry.” He meows. After gorging himself on the food he sees the water dish. Stops to scratch an itch and then attempts to take a drink.  Only the water ends up his nose. "Wow that hurts." as he tries to snort the water out.  He tries again only this time tipping his head so the nose stays out of the water. “Ah yes the refreshing taste of water.”

Yawning he wobbles over to the box and flops down in the corner. He had his workout for now, after a little rest he will continue on to hone those cat skills to be the brave warrior of the future.

Book Review and Update on Weight.
I finished another book. “Legacy” by RA Salvatore. A Drizzt Do’Urdan book 8 in the series.
The writing was fabulous in this one. Drizzt is known for his fighting prowess. But Drizzt has a nemesis who is just as good as he is only they fight for different reasons. No matter how long or how far a person can go their past comes back to haunt them. In this book that is what happens and almost kills all the five friends. The entire book was almost one day in the life of the five friends but some hardships and shocking revelations that shake them up and change some of them forever. What is next for Drizzt, a dark elf, Bruenor a dwarf, Regis a halfling, Wolfgar a barbarian and Catti-bri a human women. Life is never easy in the Forgotten Realm.

Weight:
I am not doing well in the weight issue. Since my car broke down, accident and then my wrist and arm hurting I haven’t been to Zumba exercise class. The heat is causing me to eat lots ice cream. With the move and the kitty and writing and the ice cream among a bunch of other stuff I feel I am spiraling downhill. I can only hope that I have enough strength to battle through this tough time.

If there a subject that you would like to discuss? An issue that you need help with. Sometimes just talking about it helps. Well In this case writing about it helps. Share, laugh, cry, grow, and bond with others. Until next time.

Review of Writers Group and Update on My Surprise Kitty.

I had the pleasure of attending the Greater Cleveland Writers Group last night. Every time I go I learn a lot about writers, as people, as the storytellers, and as the individual. Everyone seems to have their own opinion of how a piece should be written. My opinion is there are many ways stories can be written.

Let’s say you, as a writer, heard a story. If you are a mystery writer that story will be different than say a romance, or fantasy, or a memoir. If you are an article writer or a journalist that same story will be told extremely different.

The one sure thing is no matter what type of writer you are, story telling in all genres is extremely important.

There are a few professionals in the group who are very valuable. They consistently explain when you are writing a story to show us don’t tell us. Well I say, sometime showing us is better then telling us. The reason is because sometimes the reader needs to use their imagination. There is a wonderful article that I read regarding this.  I have included the link, because they can explain it much better than I.

Surprise Package:  My Little Kitten.
As some of you read yesterday I found a little kitten.  It is sick witha cold and has puss in its eyes, one eye may even be rendered useless.    A Carpet Cleaning Company was at the office in the apartment above the office.  One of the guys saw the kitten and said he was going to bring it to the APL.  I took it in and tried to clean out some of the puss out of its eyes.  Later the Carpert Cleaning Company was gone and I got worried.  I wasn't going to stop though, this little thing needs help.  There is a man that lives in a small house behind the office.  He has many cats. He doesn't have the money to get them fixed or for medicine.  So right  now all the cats have the same eye problem.

The Capet Cleaning guy stopped by the office later and we made arrangements to take kitty to the vets.  Which will happen later today.  I wanted to show you some pictures of the little guys.  Becuase he is sick he is separated from the other cats.

Take a look at his eyes.  I cleaned out a lot of the puss but he still needs medicine.
and the poor thing has a cold. He sneezed all over the place.
Here he is in the box under my desk at the office.  Tiny isn't he?
I took him home and he's eating some softened dry food.  This is my bathroom.
After eating he walked around meowing softly.  I might call  him squeekers because when he meows he actually squeeks.
Later we sat together on my recliner wrapped in a towel, he's playing with my fingers.
He is so cute I couldn't help but snap this picture.
I may call him Braveheart because he is being very brave right now.
Brave in trusting me to take care of him.

I tried to get milk for him this moring but the grocery story I went to wouldn't let me take him in.  The car is too hot for him to stay in while I shop.   I will continue the water and softened dry food until I see the vet later today.  He will only be with me until he gets well, and his eyes clear up.  Then I will look for a good home for him.

I have three rescued cats and I cannot keep him, but I can care for him until a wonderful person steps up.  (Hint Hint.) or if you know of someone who will be a good human companion for him let me know.  I will continue updates on his progress.  What do you think I should name him?  I am taking suggestions.

If there anything that you want to discuss?  An issue that you feel is important?  I'm sure my little voice isn't the only one in the world.  Don't be afraid, Join in the disussion and let your issues and voice be heard.  Share, laugh, cry, grow, and bond with others.  Until next time

Surprise Surprise: Movie Review.

I got to work this morning to have guys waiting to clean the carpets for one of our apartment above the office. Our tenant recently moved. In the fray of hoses and chaos of people was a tiny baby kitten, just weeks old.

I know where it came from. There is another tenant that we have behind our office. This is a man that loves cats but doesn’t believe in getting them fixed. So guess what happens. He has lots of baby kittens around until they are run over or someone walks by seeing a lone kitty just sitting by our office, taking pity will take them home, or better yet they die of injuries from fights with other bigger cats in the neighborhood for territory.

This little one has puss filled eyes and one looks like he’s already lost it, plus it is sneezing and is coughing.

One of the carpet cleaning guys is going to call the Animal Protective League to have as many of the cats taken away including this little one sitting in my lap.

I will watch over it until the time for it to leave. I already rescued three cats and cannot take any more. But I can protect this little one until its time to go.

It seems content to sit in my lap while I stroke it soft fur and continue to try and clean its eyes. My hope is that someone will take him home and love him.

I just looked outside the carpet cleaning guys left. Now what do I do with this little one?

Review of Movies.
The Last Airbender. I was introduced to this story from my daughter. It’s a Japanese cartoon and a very popular one. I only saw the first part of it so when I saw the movie I was quite surprised. The movie was done really well. The actor who played the last airbender was perfect for the role. I didn’t see the 3D version because it was too expensive and I have to economize. (Yeah I’m cheap.)

The other thing was the musical score. It was very beautiful. It was a wonderful experience and worth the money to see.

Eclipse. Twilight Series. This movie was much anticipated as you know, but when I arrived at the movie most of the seats were empty. I was very curious as to why. I really enjoyed the movie, but some of the emotions were hard to portray. Reading the book in some parts were absolutely heartbreaking, and the movie couldn’t get it. Some of the parts of the movie were done very well and breathtaking. Most of the back story about the newborns was not in the books so that part was interesting.

Some of the sequences were not in the correct order but I guess it really doesn’t matter as long as they were included because they were crucial.

All in all Eclipse was extremely good and I recommend it.

Have you been to a movie lately? Or wish to comment of seeing one of the movies that I reviewed. Your opinion matters. Share, laugh, cry, grow, and bond with others. Until next time.

Finished Another Book:

As some of you may know one of my favorite authors is Sherilyn Kenyon. I just finished another one of her books. This time it was one of the Dream Hunter Series. This one is called Upon a Midnight Clear. The book was very good. What I love about Sherilyn is the fact that when she was in collage she studied mythology. Most of her books deal with the Gods and Goddesses of Mythology. She puts them in modern day stories. A lot of the worlds in her books are already figured out by the mythology realm but the characters she blends into that realm are wonderful.

Upon Midnight Clear deals with the dream realm, with Gods of Pain, Fear, Chaos and Hades. The nemesis is the God of Pain who has been summoned by a jealous brother of our main character. The person, a woman, who is to fight our God of Pain is a Dream Hunter who is void of any emotion and must rely on the bitter and angry emotions of the other brother who the God of Pain is to kill.

What I didn’t find interesting was the fight scene in the dream realm sequences; I felt they could have been better, bigger and more gruesome. That is my only gripe about the book. (None of her fighting scenes could compare to the author RA Salvatores fighting scenes with the beloved character Drizzt Du’Urdan.) I guess a woman can’t be as gruesome as a man but most of the fighting in her books is pretty good. It was just this book that was lacking in that one department. There may have been things behind the story that was not put in the book as to why the fighting sequence wasn't as flashy; I guess we’ll never know. Other than that the book was riveting, understandable and easy to relate to the characters.

What is interesting is about her books is the overall premise that the main characters are all tragic with terrible backgrounds. It’s that back story that is fascinating and also the reason the books are so interesting. She always pairs the persecuted main character with a wonderful regular mortal women that helps them overcome their deepest hurts plus deal with the life and death of the world and the beloved characters. There is a lot of humor and comical stuff going between the couples that are very entertaining.

My next book in the Dream Hunter Series: Dream Chaser. This is a spin off of another book called Devil May Cry from the Dark Hunter Series. I’ll do a review soon.

If you like mythology this is a good escape, however I have to worn you that there is a lot of sex scenes in her books and they get right now to business.

Stop Messing With my Food:This next segment is regarding our food and our bodies. Since my car is fixed and I’m no longer walking the diet is back on. (Face in a grimace here.)

Years ago I had an opportunity to spend some time in the beautiful country of Sweden. During the seven months that I lived in Sweden I became very healthy. I lost weight and I wasn’t even trying. I was riding a bike into the nearest town to attend Swedish language school. I was stopping in between the school in town to take care of 25 chickens who where in between our little house in the small village where I lived and the small town.

One thing about Europeans is that they don’t want any kind of toxins in their food. They want natural fruits, vegetables, fresh milk and cheese, free range eggs and meats. They are very particular of their foods. We in the states need to get on the ball because as you can see our girth is getting larger and our heath is getting worse.

I myself am tired of having my food tampered with. Even organic is tampered with. I receive a newsletter from a famous doctor in Cleveland. Dr Tenpennny. She is known for her outspoken objections to vaccines and has the proof to back them up. I met her at my Greater Cleveland Writing Group. She didn’t talk about vaccines, what she talked about was self publishing and publishing for the beginner writer.

I got the chance to talk to her briefly afterwards. I explained my theory about our foods. She said I was absolutely correct in my assumptions. Then she gave me her email address. She also told me about something called Kegan Water. Kegan Water is a water filtration system that gets rid of the toxins in our foods. The system cost $2500. I agree the amount is insurmountable to the populous. However Dr. Tenpenny explained as this. The Kegan Water Systems water is ph balanced and will pull the toxins out of the food. After 20 minutes of being in the water the water is a yellow yucky color that clearly shows the Toxins, even organic is not immune. This is just a start, but we need to take a bigger stand.
I’m all for telling the government to stop messing with our food. Stop the irradiation of our canned foods, the cloning of our meats. The die put in our meats to make them pretty and last longer. The pesticides that are absorb in the fruits and vegetable rendering them with less than half of the nutrition our bodies need to survive. Animals that live in a barn all their lives, eating pellets instead of natural grass and grains. They’re never being allowed to see the light of day or feel the sun. They are stressed out and treated without dignity. I have a friend who is a farmer who tells me some of this stuff.

We as a great nation need to take a look at other nations and how they live. I’ve been out of the county and seen it for myself. I know the truth. We as a people need to tell our government to stop messing with our food and take control. We need to make sure that we eat as natural as we can. If we stick together in this, the manufactures may get the idea and change the way they package the food. Or if we decide not to eat it the company will go out of business or make the necessary changes.

We as the people of this country have more power then we know. We have the power of our voice. If we make all of our voices into one big voice, the government will have no choice but to steps back and gives us what we want. But we have to look at the bigger picture. We want fresh fruits and vegetable, free of toxins and pesticides. We want fresh water and free range meat and eggs from stress free animals that lived decent lives and have maximum vitamins, minerals and health benefits.

Make your voice heard today. Start eating better food by growing your own or making some noise to your congressman. I believe the trend is getting bigger and more and more are hopping on the wagon. Take care of yourself by eating better and demanding better food form our government. http://drtenpenny.com/default.aspx

I have provided the to Dr. Tenpenny’s website here. Read for yourself and become involved in your health today. http://drtenpenny.com/default.aspx
It takes courage to go against everything that you have been taught in your life. The government lies to us and they don't tell us the whole thing. You have an obligation to find out for yourself the truth. Embrace your birthright read Dr. Tenpennys website and judge for yourself. Then what will you do?
How do you feel about the food situation? Let us know your opinion. Share, laugh, grow, and bond with other. Until next time.

A Breath of Fresh Air:

Sometimes as I go through my life. Going to work, and having thing happening then deal with it then another thing happens amongst all the other things that happens in ones life. Have you ever had a time when you all of a sudden out of no where just sort of wake up? You look around and see that the house is dirty. Laundry needs to be done. Stuff you have planned on doing is waiting for you. It like you were in a dream for weeks, and finally poof you woke up.

It was like that this morning. I recognize this as depression, where I go through the movements of life not really being alive, but I remember being alive and dealing with life. One moment I was fixing my hair and the next I had a spark of inspiration, and a flick of life came to me.  Then I was moving better, I had a skip in my step, a determination of all that needs to be done.

It might be because I have to move soon and have a lot to do, but I suspect that I was depressed at all the catastrophes that took place these last few weeks. The good news is I made it unscathed and didn’t freak out and go splat on the floor. No crying and yelling at God, why me. (Hands up in the air shaking.)

Maybe I’m finally growing up. Finally understanding that when things happen, we go through them, deal and make decisions and then life goes on. Part of it may be the fact that I write it out on this blog. It keeps thing interesting not only for me but for my readers. I wish that I had more to write about but then I am grateful that I don’t. I have enough to deal with already.

Busy with work:
Over the next week I will be pretty busy. Some of you know that I work in property management. Around the first of the month the office gets kind of crazy. I will do my best to post things. Most likely I will keep track of some of the more interesting and funny thing happening and then report on later posts. Bare with me, people are the most interesting of all the animals of our world. And I love to study them. Please keep checking.

Really Cool Creative Writing Practice:
I just learned this really cool creative writing practice. It’s where you take a sense, such as taste or smell and then take an emotion or mood and try to come up with as many words as you can.

Last night I took Taste, why because it was different and I wanted to challenge myself. I paired it with the emotion anger. Here’s what I came up with.

Sense: Taste
Emotion: Anger

Pungent, hot, harsh, sharp, painful, distasteful, offensive, biting, strong, scalding.

Then I took a different emotion. Same sense. Sorrow. This is a list I came up with.

Sour, bitter, cold, indigestible.

Give it a try and see how many you can come up with.

This exercise was something I really enjoyed and will try different ones. Than in three months I will try it again and see how much I have improved.

Do you have a creative writing exercise that you like? Post it and let’s have some fun. Maybe we can have a contest. Either way we can learn from each other.

New reading material:
One of my favorite authors is Sherrilyn Kenyon. This author writes books that are wonderful. With each book she introduces new characters that bring in other characters that spin off into another book but continues the original story. The characters are fabulous and interesting and just plain good. Sherrilyn’s books have different worlds. The league, Dark Hunter, Were Hunter, Dream Hunter, well you get the idea.

The book I’m reading now is one of the Dream Hunter Series call Upon the Midnight Clear. It’s pretty good so far. I will review it in a few days.

Well I better stop writing and get to work. Share, learn, grow, laugh, and bond with others. Remember you don’t have to be a member. By for now.
