From Shocked to Recovery:

For those of you that is new to my blog. I just moved from a beautiful apartment, that was on the market and sold, to a friends old run down, creaky, mice running around, bugs flying everywhere, no screens on the windows, well you get the idea, place. I didn’t have a lot of options and neither did my friend when we decided on this move. I had to move quickly.

It’s sad to say that my friend loved the place that I moved into and is moving into a property that she is fixing up, but doesn’t like. Both of us work in property management. She’s an owner and I’m in the profession as a support for a company.

To say that I was in shocked at the new place was an understatement. After spending one full week there I am over the shock but not over the problems dealing with it. Such as the kitchen is completely inefficient, not to mention filthy. There are no linen closets or space to store anything. As I mention in the last paragraph, there are no screens on any of the windows so I cannot get any fresh air flowing through the apartment. I feel like a hermit. My poor cats, all 4 of them, they are dealing with this better than I am. Although I did get a couple of treasures on my bed, dead mice prominently displayed for me to find. I have to hand it to my cats, they are good hunters. They have eaten most of the bug flying around and of course the mice. The old place I could open the windows and they could look out and see the world and get fresh air, but now it’s dark and no air. (Ugh!)

I went to the Laundromat to do a load of clothes. I refuse to go down to the basement to do laundry. I don’t trust that washer and dryer or the basement for that matter. I will not allow my cats to have access either. The washer was dirty and the dryer is filled with clothes my girlfriend forgot. I won’t touch them.

Do you think I am being all weird about this? One of my pet peeves is cleaning someone else’s filth. When I get tired of looking at it, I swallow my pride and will dig in and clean it but I don’t like it. (So There!!) Anyway enough of that subject. I’m getting a headache.

Exciting News:
Last Friday I went to Borders Books, my favorite place to go, and met a new author Harry Dolan. He was promoting his first novel “Bad Things Happen”. I got to meet and talk with him. He’s been traveling around the country talking and meeting people. He was nice and genuine. I bought his book and he personalized it. “WOW.” I’m on the third chapter and it’s good so far. If you get a chance, read it.

Update on Braveheart the Warrior:
Talk about brave. Braveheart has been a trouper through this whole process of moving. The other three cats have been with me before while moving, so they were used to it, well sort of, as much as moving to a new place for an animal could be. They were very good. Braveheart was actually better because he didn’t care about the uncomfortable feeling of a new place. He just wanted to play, and play he did. A few times I was on a couch that was left there, reading. I can feel Braveheart near me stalking when all of the sudden he jumps on top of my book in a effort to get at my hands to play. Sometime he would craw across my shoulders and nuzzles my neck then jumps down onto my lap then again attack my hands.

I just roll my eyes. It doesn’t take him long to be on his way with something else that captures his attention. A few times he stopped by and sat in my lap and actually fell asleep. Those are the most rewarding, when he give love back.

I was so stressed out last week it was a wonder I even had a personality. How I survived I don’t know. Well now I seem to be back to normal, sort of, with smiles and friendliness.

Hopefully you had a great week. If you want to discuss an issue or have gone through something that is similar, which I am sure you have. Please tell us about it and bond with others. It’s nice to know that we are not alone. Share, laugh, cry, grow and bond with others. Until next time.

Surprise Surprise: Movie Review.

I got to work this morning to have guys waiting to clean the carpets for one of our apartment above the office. Our tenant recently moved. In the fray of hoses and chaos of people was a tiny baby kitten, just weeks old.

I know where it came from. There is another tenant that we have behind our office. This is a man that loves cats but doesn’t believe in getting them fixed. So guess what happens. He has lots of baby kittens around until they are run over or someone walks by seeing a lone kitty just sitting by our office, taking pity will take them home, or better yet they die of injuries from fights with other bigger cats in the neighborhood for territory.

This little one has puss filled eyes and one looks like he’s already lost it, plus it is sneezing and is coughing.

One of the carpet cleaning guys is going to call the Animal Protective League to have as many of the cats taken away including this little one sitting in my lap.

I will watch over it until the time for it to leave. I already rescued three cats and cannot take any more. But I can protect this little one until its time to go.

It seems content to sit in my lap while I stroke it soft fur and continue to try and clean its eyes. My hope is that someone will take him home and love him.

I just looked outside the carpet cleaning guys left. Now what do I do with this little one?

Review of Movies.
The Last Airbender. I was introduced to this story from my daughter. It’s a Japanese cartoon and a very popular one. I only saw the first part of it so when I saw the movie I was quite surprised. The movie was done really well. The actor who played the last airbender was perfect for the role. I didn’t see the 3D version because it was too expensive and I have to economize. (Yeah I’m cheap.)

The other thing was the musical score. It was very beautiful. It was a wonderful experience and worth the money to see.

Eclipse. Twilight Series. This movie was much anticipated as you know, but when I arrived at the movie most of the seats were empty. I was very curious as to why. I really enjoyed the movie, but some of the emotions were hard to portray. Reading the book in some parts were absolutely heartbreaking, and the movie couldn’t get it. Some of the parts of the movie were done very well and breathtaking. Most of the back story about the newborns was not in the books so that part was interesting.

Some of the sequences were not in the correct order but I guess it really doesn’t matter as long as they were included because they were crucial.

All in all Eclipse was extremely good and I recommend it.

Have you been to a movie lately? Or wish to comment of seeing one of the movies that I reviewed. Your opinion matters. Share, laugh, cry, grow, and bond with others. Until next time.

Finished Another Book:

As some of you may know one of my favorite authors is Sherilyn Kenyon. I just finished another one of her books. This time it was one of the Dream Hunter Series. This one is called Upon a Midnight Clear. The book was very good. What I love about Sherilyn is the fact that when she was in collage she studied mythology. Most of her books deal with the Gods and Goddesses of Mythology. She puts them in modern day stories. A lot of the worlds in her books are already figured out by the mythology realm but the characters she blends into that realm are wonderful.

Upon Midnight Clear deals with the dream realm, with Gods of Pain, Fear, Chaos and Hades. The nemesis is the God of Pain who has been summoned by a jealous brother of our main character. The person, a woman, who is to fight our God of Pain is a Dream Hunter who is void of any emotion and must rely on the bitter and angry emotions of the other brother who the God of Pain is to kill.

What I didn’t find interesting was the fight scene in the dream realm sequences; I felt they could have been better, bigger and more gruesome. That is my only gripe about the book. (None of her fighting scenes could compare to the author RA Salvatores fighting scenes with the beloved character Drizzt Du’Urdan.) I guess a woman can’t be as gruesome as a man but most of the fighting in her books is pretty good. It was just this book that was lacking in that one department. There may have been things behind the story that was not put in the book as to why the fighting sequence wasn't as flashy; I guess we’ll never know. Other than that the book was riveting, understandable and easy to relate to the characters.

What is interesting is about her books is the overall premise that the main characters are all tragic with terrible backgrounds. It’s that back story that is fascinating and also the reason the books are so interesting. She always pairs the persecuted main character with a wonderful regular mortal women that helps them overcome their deepest hurts plus deal with the life and death of the world and the beloved characters. There is a lot of humor and comical stuff going between the couples that are very entertaining.

My next book in the Dream Hunter Series: Dream Chaser. This is a spin off of another book called Devil May Cry from the Dark Hunter Series. I’ll do a review soon.

If you like mythology this is a good escape, however I have to worn you that there is a lot of sex scenes in her books and they get right now to business.

Stop Messing With my Food:This next segment is regarding our food and our bodies. Since my car is fixed and I’m no longer walking the diet is back on. (Face in a grimace here.)

Years ago I had an opportunity to spend some time in the beautiful country of Sweden. During the seven months that I lived in Sweden I became very healthy. I lost weight and I wasn’t even trying. I was riding a bike into the nearest town to attend Swedish language school. I was stopping in between the school in town to take care of 25 chickens who where in between our little house in the small village where I lived and the small town.

One thing about Europeans is that they don’t want any kind of toxins in their food. They want natural fruits, vegetables, fresh milk and cheese, free range eggs and meats. They are very particular of their foods. We in the states need to get on the ball because as you can see our girth is getting larger and our heath is getting worse.

I myself am tired of having my food tampered with. Even organic is tampered with. I receive a newsletter from a famous doctor in Cleveland. Dr Tenpennny. She is known for her outspoken objections to vaccines and has the proof to back them up. I met her at my Greater Cleveland Writing Group. She didn’t talk about vaccines, what she talked about was self publishing and publishing for the beginner writer.

I got the chance to talk to her briefly afterwards. I explained my theory about our foods. She said I was absolutely correct in my assumptions. Then she gave me her email address. She also told me about something called Kegan Water. Kegan Water is a water filtration system that gets rid of the toxins in our foods. The system cost $2500. I agree the amount is insurmountable to the populous. However Dr. Tenpenny explained as this. The Kegan Water Systems water is ph balanced and will pull the toxins out of the food. After 20 minutes of being in the water the water is a yellow yucky color that clearly shows the Toxins, even organic is not immune. This is just a start, but we need to take a bigger stand.
I’m all for telling the government to stop messing with our food. Stop the irradiation of our canned foods, the cloning of our meats. The die put in our meats to make them pretty and last longer. The pesticides that are absorb in the fruits and vegetable rendering them with less than half of the nutrition our bodies need to survive. Animals that live in a barn all their lives, eating pellets instead of natural grass and grains. They’re never being allowed to see the light of day or feel the sun. They are stressed out and treated without dignity. I have a friend who is a farmer who tells me some of this stuff.

We as a great nation need to take a look at other nations and how they live. I’ve been out of the county and seen it for myself. I know the truth. We as a people need to tell our government to stop messing with our food and take control. We need to make sure that we eat as natural as we can. If we stick together in this, the manufactures may get the idea and change the way they package the food. Or if we decide not to eat it the company will go out of business or make the necessary changes.

We as the people of this country have more power then we know. We have the power of our voice. If we make all of our voices into one big voice, the government will have no choice but to steps back and gives us what we want. But we have to look at the bigger picture. We want fresh fruits and vegetable, free of toxins and pesticides. We want fresh water and free range meat and eggs from stress free animals that lived decent lives and have maximum vitamins, minerals and health benefits.

Make your voice heard today. Start eating better food by growing your own or making some noise to your congressman. I believe the trend is getting bigger and more and more are hopping on the wagon. Take care of yourself by eating better and demanding better food form our government. http://drtenpenny.com/default.aspx

I have provided the to Dr. Tenpenny’s website here. Read for yourself and become involved in your health today. http://drtenpenny.com/default.aspx
It takes courage to go against everything that you have been taught in your life. The government lies to us and they don't tell us the whole thing. You have an obligation to find out for yourself the truth. Embrace your birthright read Dr. Tenpennys website and judge for yourself. Then what will you do?
How do you feel about the food situation? Let us know your opinion. Share, laugh, grow, and bond with other. Until next time.

Reading, Writing and Movies

Had an interesting day yesterday, I explained that I was working on some developments for my book. I had been thinking about them for a bit. I was walking around my apartment doing things that needed to be done, but I was trying to remember the developments that were in my head. I was hoping I could finish up what I was doing and then go write them up. I got a strange feeling, a sort of yearning. I felt myself going for the cookies. Then a thought came into my head. I dropped everything and went directly into my office and began writing up my storyline. (I left the cookies out.)

Not just telling a story about what is happening, but showing it, using dialog and everything. I did 4 pages. I was on a roll. Then later I wrote some more. It was a part where I wasn’t sure I could do. I had been wondering about it for some time. Yesterday, I put caution to the wind and did it. (Yeah me.)

What sparked this on? I picked up a book from the Library that I put on order. The Weekend Novelist Re-writes the Novel, by Robert J.Ray. Well actually I put two on order. I was hoping to get the Weekend Novelist book first, but hay can’t help it.

Well I was reading the first chapter. (Usually I wait until I get the first one.) The book talked about re-writing. Well it explained not to go and rewrite what you already written yet, the main thing to work on first is your subplots.

It hit me like a ton of bricks. This was the missing piece of the puzzle. *Hits head with palm* I had been concentrating on the main characters so much that I forgot about the sub characters and what they were doing in the story.
(Now my creative juices are at work.)

I wrote something on Saturday and Sunday. Both days, can you believe it? It was a very productive weekend. And I am very excited about the new stuff I’m working on now. (Hay if anything I know I’m on the right tracks.)

Movies update:
I really enjoyed the movie Julie & Julia so much that I watched it again. The fun thing about watching a movie again is you pick up things that you didn’t the first time. Of course it was just as entertaining. Later I watched Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. That was good, just not as good as the book.

Weight Update:
During the writing episodes and my cooking for the entire week, I ate all of the dark chocolate, cheese puffs and the cookies. *Pouting bottom lip*
But because Julie in the movie was such a good cook, it inspired me to do some of my famous, what I call, puttering around the kitchen and made some good meals for this week.

What I mean by puttering around the kitchen:
Well I don’t use recipes. Mostly because I usually don’t have the correct ingredients at the time I feel like cooking, so I take what I have already and try to make some dishes. Sometimes they come out great, sometimes not so good. I have been getting better since I first started learning how to cook. Back then I decided I needed to learn to cook because I got hungry. I used to pride myself on not being domesticated. But hunger pain is pain none the less. So now I am domesticated and a good cook.

A request:
This is a shout out to my readers. So far my voice is the only one. I have 2 followers and a few emails saying they love my work. If you read this please just give a quick shout out so I know I am not the only one writing and reading this.

While you’re at it, share an opinion about something in your life, but only if you wish. Let’s get the discussion started. What are you up to? What matters in your life? Anybody…

Share, laugh, love, cry, grow, and bond with other women. This is for you and it helps me. Until next time.
